Product: Whole wheat pasta made from spelled flour – Spirelli of the Naturata brand .
Problem: presence of alkaloids of the Naturata brand .
The AFSCA is today recalling consumers of wholemeal pasta made from spelled flour – Spirelli of the Naturata brand .
This recall follows a notification via the RASFF system (European Food and Feed Rapid Alert System) concerning the presence of ergot alkaloids in this product.
It was therefore decided to withdraw this product from sale and to recall it to consumers.
The AFSCA asks not to consume it and to bring it back to the point of sale where it was purchased.

USA – Merkley and Sons Packing Co. recalls ground beef over E. coli test
Merkley & Sons Packing Co. of Jasper, is voluntarily recalling certain ground beef products because of possible E. coli contamination.
The company says the recall involves 1-pound and 5-pound packages of “Ground Beef, 80% Lean,” and is out of an abundance of caution after product tracing.

Iceland – Aflatoxin mold toxin in seeds
Matvælastofnun warns against the consumption of one batch of melon seeds from Essen AlHasnaA due to aflatoxin mold toxin, which is imported by the Middle East market. The company, in consultation with the Reykjavík Health Inspectorate, has stopped sales and recalled premium Class-Roter Wassermelonenkerne from consumers.
Matvælastofnun received information about the product through RASFF’s European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed and notified the Authority.
The recall only applies to the following batch;

Ukraine- Botulism case reported in Melitopol, Ukraine, Linked to smoked mackerel
On June 21, 2021, a case of botulism – food poisoning was registered in Melitopol- a city in Zaporizhzhia Oblast of southeastern Ukraine, according to the city health department.
The patient is a 65-year-old man who bought cold-smoked mackerel in a retail chain and consumed it himself on June 18-19, 2021.
