Singapore – FOOD (AMENDMENT NO. 3) REGULATIONS 2023

The Food (Amendment No. 3) Regulations 2023 will come into operation on 4
March 2024.
2 This set of amendments makes changes to the Food Regulations to revise the
microbiological standards for non-ready-to-eat (non-RTE) food. The current
microbiological standards for non-RTE food will apply until 3 March 2024.
3 The food industry has been consulted via a public consultation exercise from
17 February 2023 to 18 April 2023. A summary of the comments received and SFA’s
response can be downloaded from:

USA- Ruby Mountain Spring Water recalled after testing finds Coliforms

Food Safety News

Ruby Mountain Spring Water of Winnemucca, NV, is recalling their brand of 3 and 5-gallon plastic water jugs because the firm’s sample revealed positive findings for coliforms.

According to the details posted online by the FDA, the recall was initiated on Aug. 1, 2023, and is ongoing.

The recalled products were distributed in Nevada.

Recalled product:

  • Ruby Mountain Spring Water 3 and 5-gallon plastic water jugs
  • Product Quantity: 1,350 bottles

Anyone who purchased the recalled product should immediately dispose of it and not consume it.

USA – Life Raft Treats Recalls Ice Cream Products, Not Fried Chicken And Life Is Peachy, Due to Possible Listeria Monocytogenes Contamination

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – September 6, 2023 – Life Raft Treats is recalling their Not Fried Chicken 64 oz bucket, Not Fried Chicken 2.5 oz bar UPC 8 60006 18210 6 and Life Is Peachy 6 count box ice cream products, all with BEST BY DATES up to and including AUG 8212024 due to a potential contamination of Listeria monocytogenesListeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, a Listeria monocytogenes infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

On September 5, 2023 the firm was notified by South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) that their Not Fried Chicken ice cream treat test positive for Listeria monocytogenes. The firm also decided to recall their Life Is Peachy Ice Cream treats because both products were manufactured in the same room.

No illnesses have been reported to date.
