Delhaize asks its customers not to consume and bring the product below to the store.

In collaboration with the AFSCA, Delhaize has decided to withdraw these products from the market and to recall them from consumers due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes .

Delhaize performs hundreds of internal quality controls every day to guarantee the quality and food safety of its products at all times.

In the meantime, Delhaize has already removed all the products concerned from the shelves and reinforced the controls vis-à-vis the product and the supplier. Customers who purchased this product are asked not to consume it. Customers have the option of bringing the product in question to the point of sale where they purchased it. The reimbursement of each item concerned is guaranteed.

Other products in the same range are not affected and can therefore be consumed safely. Delhaize would like to apologize for the inconvenience.

Advice and information for consumers:

What if you have already purchased the product?
Do not consume the product and return it to your Delhaize store. The products will be refunded to you.

What if you have already consumed the product?
People who have consumed this product and who notice fever or headache are advised to consult their doctor to report it.
Pregnant women, immunocompromised people, the elderly and children should be especially alert to these symptoms.
These symptoms may indicate listeriosis, which can be serious.

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets warned consumers not to eat High Point Dairy Monterey Jack raw milk cheese made by High Point Dairy for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The dairy is located at 605 Fiery Hill Road in Fort Plain, New York. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue.

The cheese is packaged in 1/2 pound, 2 pound, and five pound sizes in vacuum sealed clear plastic. The name High Point Dairy Monterey Jack is on the label, along with “aged 60 days,” and the make date of 3-6-2020. The consumer alert affects all packages with this code. But, any package with an unknown code date that was purchased after May 12, 2020 shouldn’t be eaten.

The product was sold at Manor Farm, 5356 St Rt 167, Little Falls, NY 13365; Winfield Acres, 1325 State Route 170, Little Falls, NY 13365; and Brian Boll’s Roadside Stand at 5321 State Route 7 Hoosick Falls, NY 12090. It was also distributed directly to consumers in the Fort Plain/ East Springfield area by distributor Jesse Ehst.

Malaysia – Terengganu food poisoning victims climb to 74, says state health director

KUALA TERENGGANU, May 26 — The number of food poisoning victims believed to be caused by eating a local dessert (puding buih) in two districts in Terengganu continues to rise to 74 people as of 3pm today, said Terengganu Health director, Dr Nor Azimi Yunus.

She said out of the 74 cases (from 16 different families), 62 patients are living in Kuala Terengganu while 12 patients are from Marang.

Australia – Egg alert: Salmonella explosion as 12 farms that sell produce to supermarkets are found to be infected

At least three people have come down with salmonella poisoning after purchasing eggs from a popular supermarket.

The infection is believed to have come from eggs purchased from a supermarket in the Melbourne suburb of Werribee.

The Weekly Times reported the eggs were supplied from farms in New South Wales.

However, a spokesman for the NSW Department of Primary Industries disputed those claims.

Belgium – Belgium reports record high number of outbreaks

Belgium has recorded the highest number of foodborne outbreaks in a year since recordkeeping began.

This past year, 571 outbreaks were reported to the National Reference Laboratory for Foodborne Outbreaks (LNR-TIA). A total of 2,457 people fell ill and 28 were hospitalized.

Data on outbreaks have been collected by Sciensano, the Belgian Institute for Health, since 1999. From 1999 to 2010, 39 to 116 outbreaks were reported each year, but this number doubled in 2011 to 281. There were an average of 336 outbreaks per year between 2011 and 2016. Almost 400 outbreaks were recorded in 2018.
