Sunco and Frenchie LLC of Pine Brook, New Jersey is recalling Terrafina brand Macadamia in the Raw packed in 6 oz plastic containers, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

Terrafina Brand Macadamia in the Raw was distributed in New York through retail stores. Oak Foods LLC was the distributor.

Brand Name Terrafina with the product name Macadamia in the Raw. Best by Date is 05/2025 and Lot # is RMA241201. UPC# 847938003570. The container is plastic square shaped, and the label indicates size 6 oz and has a light green color for the front label. The nutrition label indicates distributed by Oak Foods LLC, Bronx NY 10474.

The raw macadamia nuts were manufactured by SolCaribe, S.A., Costa Rica.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The potential contamination of Salmonella was discovered through the State of New York Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Laboratory through routine testing. The company is recalling this product as FDA and Sunco and Frenchie LLC continue their investigation.

USA – Solata Foods Recalls Fresh Spinach and Spinach Products Due to Possible Health Risk

Solata Foods LLC. of Newburgh, NY, is recalling its “Fresh Spinach” listed below because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy persons may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, L. monocytogenes infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The recalled “Fresh Spinach” was distributed locally in retail stores. The product comes in various sizes listed below with all brand names, All packages have lot numbers # 40606 and 11006 on the package and with an expiration date of 6/20/24 and 6/24/24 stamped on the side. The product UPC codes are listed in the link above.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The contamination was discovered after sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Market Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of L. monocytogenes in a 9-ounce package of Bogopa “Fresh Spinach.” Production of the product has been suspended

Reason for Recall

Routine testing has revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the specified lot 412. Listeria monocytogenes is a type of bacteria that can cause listeriosis. Symptoms vary depending on the severity of the illness, symptoms may last from days to several weeks. Mild symptoms may include a fever, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. If the more severe form of listeriosis develops, symptoms may include headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions. Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including older people, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.

USA – Ice cream cakes sold at Wegmans recalled because of Listeria

Abilyn’s Frozen Bakery of Wilmington, MA is recalling ice cream cakes because of possible Listeria contamination. Wegmans has also posted a recall letting consumers know that the recalled Abilyn’s Ice Cream Cakes were sold at their stores.

According to the company, they were informed on the evening of June 21, 2024, by their production partner, that recent testing by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has detected the presence of possible contamination on the production line that has been used to produce our Abilyn’s Frozen Bakery ice cream cakes.

The company has recalled all flavors of ice cream cake with a Best By date between April 20, 2024, and April 20, 2025.

The recalled Orzo (vegan) Dried, 10oz were distributed through Payless Foods, The Star Store, Bayview Farmers Market, Redmond Farmers Market, Woodinville Farmers Market, Tilth Farmers Market, Everett Farmers Market and the Wildly Beloved Foods Marketplace in Washington. The product is packaged in a clear compostable bag marked with the lot WBF-SEMPLV-CL-050724-A and the expiration date of May 7, 2025 on the side of package.

The recalled Campanelle (vegan) Dried, 10oz were distributed through Bayview Farmers Market, Redmond Farmers Market, Woodinville Farmers Market, Tilth Farmers Market, Everett Farmers Market and the Wildly Beloved Foods Marketplace in Washington. The product is package in a clear compostable bag marked with lot WBF-SEMPLV-CL-051724-A and the expiration date of May 17, 2025 on the side of package.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem

We initiated this recall because the product was under-dried and we found three packages within our retail marketplace that had the beginning signs of mold.

Totally Cool, Inc. of Owings Mills, Maryland is recalling multiple brands of ice cream products, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Products were distributed nationwide, and available in retail locations and direct delivery.

The Central Fisheries Co., LTD oysters were distributed to restaurants and retailers in HI and CA. The oysters may have been distributed to other states as well.

Purpose

Oysters contaminated with norovirus can cause illness if eaten, and potentially severe illness in people with compromised immune systems. Food containing norovirus may look, smell, and taste normal. Consumers of these products who are experiencing symptoms of illness should contact their healthcare provider and report their symptoms to their local Health Department. Diarrhea, abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, and fever may be associated with gastroenteritis infections caused by this organism.
