USA – GetGo brand apples with peanut butter dip recalled as Jif peanut butter recall affect products downstream

Giant Eagle is recalling GetGo brand Apples with Peanut Butter Dip sold in GetGo stations across Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and Indiana because of potential salmonella contamination.

This recall comes after J. M. Smucker Co.’s recall of dozens of Jif peanut butter products because of a new outbreak of infections from Salmonella Senftenberg. The full recall can be viewed here.

GetGo learned of the issue during the retailer’s investigation into the Jif peanut butter recall from the J. M. Smucker Company. The peanut butter used for the item is affected by the Jif peanut butter recall.

  •  Best if used by dates through May 29, 2022

As of the posting of this recall, there have not been any reports of illnesses, according to the company.

Those who purchased the affected product should throw it away or return it to GetGo for a refund.

Albertsons Companies, in cooperation with its supplier the J. M. Smucker Co., has recalled 11 store-prepared items because of possible Salmonella contamination.

The store-prepared items were available for purchase at the following banners: Albertsons, Safeway, Lucky, Haggen, Carrs-Safeway, Eagle, Tom Thumb, United, Amigos, Market Street, Albertsons Market, Andronico’s Community Markets, Vons, Pak ‘N Save, Shaw’s, Star Market, Randalls, Vons, Jewel-Osco, ACME, King’s and Balducci’s.

This recall comes after J. M. Smucker Co,’s recall of dozens of Jif brand peanut butter products because of a new outbreak of infections from Salmonella Senftenberg. The full recall can be viewed here.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are reporting 14 patients across 12 states with two people having been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported as of today.

Coblentz Chocolate Company of Walnut Creek, Ohio is recalling certain Peanut Butter Products because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.  Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

This recall is a direct result of the J.M. Smucker Co. Jif® Peanut Butter recall.  Coblentz Chocolate Company has ceased using Jif® Peanut Butter in production at this time. No illnesses have been reported to date.

The products were distributed nationwide and reached consumers through the Coblentz Chocolate Company retail store and other retail locations.

The products included in the recall were sold between November 12, 2021, and May 21, 2022.  The specific products include lot numbers 1315-2140.

Products included in the recall are Peanut Butter Spread, Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, Graham Peanut Butter Sandwich, Ritz Peanut Butter Sandwich, Oversized Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, Fudge Sampler, Peanut Butter Fudge, Buckeye Fudge, Oversized Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, Oversized Peanut Butter Pretzel Cluster, Peanut Butter Truffle, Chocolate Peanut Butter Caramel Corn, Select Gift Boxes: 4 oz. USA – Wilbur Peanut Butter Products Recalled For Possible Salmonella

Some Wilbur peanut butter products are being recalled because they were made with Jif peanut butter that is also recalled. Some varieties of Jif peanut butter have been linked to a Salmonella Senftenberg outbreak that has sickened at latest 14 people in 12 states. No illnesses are associated with these specific recalled products. The recalling firm is Cargill.

No other Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate or Wilbur products are included in this recall. If you bought any of these items, do not eat them, even if some has been consumed and no one is sick. You can throw them away in a double bagged or sealed container inside a secure trash can, or take them back to the place of purchase for a refund. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling these products.

he New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health Services (DPHS), in collaboration with the City of Manchester Department of Health, is investigating an outbreak of Salmonella infections. As of May 22, 2022, seven persons with Salmonella Enteriditis infection have been identified who also reported eating at Buba Noodle Bar, located at 36 Lowell Street in Manchester, prior to their illness. One case was hospitalized and there have been no deaths. Several other people with Salmonella infection are currently under investigation. Buba Noodle Bar voluntarily closed on May 20, 2022 while a public health investigation is conducted, and the restaurant is partnering with public health to help determine a source for the infections.

USA – Skowhegan Maine Walmart deli customers at risk for Hepatitis A

Customers who bought food from the deli at the Skowhegan Walmart may have been exposed to hepatitis A.

A deli worker who was ill with hepatitis A handled food while infectious this Monday, Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention spokesperson Robert Long said Tuesday.

Anyone who bought food at the deli between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on May 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19 and 21 and ate it is at risk of contracting the contagious liver disease, according to Long.

Long advised anyone who bought food on those dates from the deli should throw it away. He added that no other food was potentially contaminated.

The manufacturer “Weinbergmaier GmbH” is currently recalling the product “Culinea Austrian meat dumplings (10 pieces), 1000 g” with the best before date April 21, 2023 and batch L2164.

Listeria monocytogenes was detected during a routine inspection of the flesh. Listeria monocytogenes can trigger severe gastrointestinal diseases and symptoms similar to those of a flu. Serious disease progressions can occur in certain groups of people (infants, small children, pregnant women as well as old and sick people). Because of this health risk, customers should be aware of the recall and not consume the affected product.

The affected food “Culinea Austrian meat dumplings (10 pieces), 1000 g” with the best before date April 21, 2023 and batch L2164 was sold at Lidl Austria. For reasons of consistent consumer protection, Lidl Austria reacted immediately and removed the affected food from sale. The food can be returned in all Lidl branches. The purchase price will of course be refunded, even without presenting the receipt.

Only the food “Culinea Österreichische Fleischknödel (10 pieces), 1000 g” with the best before date April 21, 2023 and batch L2164 is affected by the recall. Other Culinea brand foods sold at Lidl Austria are not affected by this recall.

The manufacturer Weinbergmaier GmbH apologizes to all those affected for the inconvenience caused. This warning does not state that the hazard was caused by Lidl Austria or Weinbergmaier GmbH.
