UK – Update 1: Morrisons recalls The Best Taleggio because of possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes

Morrisons is taking the precautionary action of extending their recall of The Best Taleggio because Listeria monocytogenes has been found in the product.
This product recall has been updated to include more ‘use by’ dates.

Risk statement

The presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the product listed above.

Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.

Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.

Action taken by the company

Morrisons is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product. Please see the attached notice.

Our advice to consumers

If you have bought any of the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

USA – Blendtopia recalls smoothie kits after testing shows Listeria contamination

Blendtopia Products LLC is recalling 29,078 cases of 7-ounce frozen Blendtopia brand Superfood Smoothie Kits because of potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

The smoothie blends affected include: Blendtopia brand “Glow,” “Detox,” “Energy,” “Immunity” and “Strength” Superfood Smoothie Kits. The impacted products are labeled as Best By July 2021, Best By Oct 2021, and Best By Nov 2021. The products were distributed nationwide and sold at select retailers and through online sales.

The company discovered the issue through its quality control processes. The issue is believed to be isolated to a supplied ingredient. The products are being recalled as a precaution in full cooperation with the FDA. There have been no reports of sickness or illness to date associated with any consumption of products related to this recall.

Why is the product being recalled?

A check at the Polish raw material supplier has detected salmonella in the raw material.

There is therefore a risk that there may be salmonella in the product. The symptoms of infection with salmonella are diarrhoea, abdominal pain, fever, headache and possibly nausea and vomiting. The illness can last from a few days to several weeks.
