Recall notices External Link Disclaimer have been posted related to JBR’s recall of certain frozen half-shell oysters due to illnesses in Utah associated with the consumption of such oysters.
JJBR (KR-15-SP) Tongyeong, Republic of Korea (ROK) is recalling frozen half-shell oysters with lot number B231227 because they may be contaminated with norovirus. The recalled oysters were harvested from ROK Designated Area No. 1 on 12/27/2023. They were processed by JBR (KR-15-SP) in Tongyeong, ROK on 12/28/2023 as frozen half-shell oysters, with lot number B231227. These oysters were distributed by Khee Trading, Inc. (Compton, CA), which is also recalling these oysters.
On 5/15/2024, JC Foods, Inc., of Salt Lake City, UT initiated a voluntary recall of frozen half shell oysters, lot number B231227, that had been distributed to their retail customers in Utah.
Retailers should not serve or sell, and consumers should not eat frozen half-shell oysters with lot number B231227 that were processed by JBR of ROK on 12/28/2023, and distributed to restaurants and retailers in California, Colorado, Nevada, New Jersey, and Utah. Additional distribution may have occurred, and the states are continuing to conduct trace forward investigations. The FDA is assisting with and coordinating interstate notification efforts as a result of the states’ investigations.

Food Alert For Action: Consumers and Food Businesses who have purchased products from Bread Spread Ltd – Listeria monocytogenes
PRODUCTS MANUFACTURED AND SUPPLIED BY BREAD SPREAD SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM SALE AND NOT CONSUMED BECAUSE OF SERIOUS FOOD SAFETY RISKS.
Environmental Health and Trading Standards Services have been alerted to remove chilled and ready-to-eat products that include baguettes, french sticks, sandwiches, rolls and wraps manufactured and supplied by Bread Spread Ltd, 22 Balfour Business Centre, Balfour Road, Southall, England, UB2 5BD, under the brand name, Bread Spread, Orbital Foods and Perfect Bite because they have not been manufactured in accordance with food law requirements.
Listeria monocytogenes has been found in the products. These products are also subject to a number of hygiene and traceability contraventions which makes them unsafe to eat.
All food businesses such as catering establishments and corner shops, across the UK supplied by Bread Spread Ltd should withdraw from sale any chilled and ready-to-eat foods and recall from consumers any of these products sold at retail because they are unsafe to eat. Products should be disposed of safely.
It is a developing situation, the list of affected products below may be incomplete. All chilled and ready-to eat foods with a use-by date up to and including 18 May 2024 manufactured or supplied by Bread Spead Ltd are affected.

Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.
Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.
Our advice to consumers
If you have purchased any products listed above, or any other products that are chilled or ready-to-eat from Bread Spread Ltd , do not eat them. Instead, dispose of the products safely, at home.

As these products have not been prepared in accordance with food hygiene, safety and other legislative requirements, they do not comply with the requirements of assimilated EU Regulations. Local Authorities have been requested to remove unsafe products from the market. Any concerns regarding unsafe foods, should be reported to the local authority where it was purchased.

Danger : Possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes
Listeria monocytogenes can cause fever, headache and gastroenteritis. Vulnerable people such as the immunocompromised and elderly and young children may experience neurological symptoms due to meningitis. Pregnant women should also be particularly attentive to these symptoms.
Gastroenteritis can appear between a few hours and 3 days after consumption, while neurological symptoms can only appear after 3 months. People who have consumed these products and present these symptoms are invited to consult a doctor and report this consumption.
The product can be distributed by different points of sale in Luxembourg.

The HAV virus, spread mainly through contaminated water or food, can cause symptoms such as fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, and jaundice.
The European Early Warning System (RASFF) recalled a batch of raspberries from Poland in 2017, highlighting the international scale of the problem. In 2013, a strain of the hepatitis A virus from Poland caused an epidemic in Italy, sending 1,300 people to the hospital.

Canada – Yogurt and milk chocolate covered pretzels recalled in Canada over Salmonella contamination
Huer Foods Inc. is recalling Western Family brand yogurt covered pretzels and milk chocolate covered pretzels because of possible Salmonella contamination.
Food contaminated with Salmonella bacteria does not usually look, smell, or taste spoiled. Anyone can become sick with a Salmonella infection. Infants, children, seniors, and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of serious illness because their immune systems are fragile, according to the CDC.
Anyone who has eaten any of the recalled products and developed symptoms of Salmonella infection should seek medical attention. Sick people should tell their doctors about the possible exposure to Salmonella bacteria because special tests are necessary to diagnose salmonellosis. Salmonella infection symptoms can mimic other illnesses, frequently leading to misdiagnosis.

USA – Hy-Vee Cream Cheese Spreads and Cookies & Cream Mix recalled over Salmonella concerns
Hy-Vee, Inc. of West Des Moines, IA, is recalling two varieties of its Hy-Vee Cream Cheese Spread and its bulk-packaged Cookies & Cream Mix because of potential Salmonella contamination.
These products are manufactured at different third-party facilities around the Midwest and are sold under HyVee’s private label and bulk packaging programs. The manufacturers of these products notified Hy-Vee of the potential issue.
