The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition has informed the autonomous communiqués through the Coordinated Rapid Information Exchange System of an alert notification sent by the health authorities of the Valencian Community, regarding the presence of histamine in frozen tuna pizzas of the CONSUM brand, made in Italy.
The product involved is as follows:
The distribution company (CONSUM and CHARTER supermarkets) have initiated the withdrawal of the product from sale and the recovery of the product from consumers. The company CONSUM has also made a communication on its website.
The relevant authorities are verifying the withdrawal of the affected product from the marketing channels. It is recommended that people who have this product at home refrain from consuming it and return it to the point of sale.
With the information available, there is no evidence in Spain of any notified case associated with this alert.

Meanwhile, 20 people fell sick recently in Sweden due to histamine levels in fish. The foodborne outbreak was linked to tuna from Vietnam.
In April 2021, 19 people were affected by histamine poisoning in Stockholm after eating tuna loins from Vietnam at three different restaurants.
In 2020, there were three outbreaks of histamine poisoning in tuna from Vietnam in three months. These incidents affected about 60 people but contaminated tuna came from different batches. Patients were from different areas in southern and central Sweden.

FASFC recall
Product: “Bonga Dried Whole” dried fish (200g) from the AFROASE brand.
Problem: Histamine and biogenous amine levels too high.
The FASFC is withdrawing the dried fish “Bonga Dried Whole” (200g) of the AFROASE brand from sale and recalling it from consumers because of an excessively high level of histamine and biogenous amines.
This recall follows a notification via the RASFF system (European Food and Feed Rapid Alert System).

Matvælastofnun warns against the consumption of one batch of Afroase Bongo fish dried whole that the company Lagsmaður ehf. imported because the fish is unfit for consumption. The product was detected with excessive levels of histamine and other organic amines. The company has recalled the product with the help of the health authorities of Garðabær, Hafnarfjörður, Kópavog, Mosfellsbær and Seltjarnarness (HEF) and sent out a press release.
The recall notification came through the RASFF European Rapid Alert System for Dangerous Food and Feed on the Market.
