Greece – “Traditional Fresh Burger” Product Recall – Salmonella Detection

E.F.E.T. and in particular the Regional Directorate of Central Macedonia, while carrying out checks in the framework of the Program “Official Control of Microbiological Food Safety Criteria” of the year 2024, sampled a fresh meat preparation (pork-beef) with the following information: “TRADITIONAL FRESH STEAK” weighing 0.600 kg , with date of manufacture: 27/07/2024 LOT 27.07.2024 60230007 and date of consumption by: 08/08/2024. Manufacturer/Packer: “KASIDIS SA” with distinctive title “FARMA ELASSONAS”.

Following laboratory analyzes at the laboratory of the Food Testing and Research Institute of Thessaloniki, the presence of the pathogenic microorganism Salmonella spp was established . in the above sample.

E.F.E.T. demanded the immediate recall of the entire specific batch of the product in question and the relevant controls are already underway.

Consumers who have purchased the above product (the illustration of which is shown below) are requested not to consume it.

Greece – Smoked Trout – Listeria monocytogenes

E.F.E.T. and in particular the Regional Directorate of Epirus, while carrying out Controls in the framework of the Program “Official Control for the Monitoring of Microbiological Food Safety Criteria” for the year 2024, sampled smoked trout, with the trade name “DODONI SMOKED TROUT” with batch number 01280524 and date with an expiry date of 07/10/2024, which is produced and packaged in Greece by the company TSIALIOS FARM TSIALIOS VASILIOS & KON/NOS O.E. based in Sinopi Preveza. After the examination by the Veterinary Laboratory of Ioannina, the presence of the pathogenic microorganism Listeria monocytogenes was found in the above sample .

Greece – “SPICED FRESH CHICKEN WING ARTA” – Salmonella

E.F.E.T. and in particular the Regional Directorate of Epirus, during inspections in the framework of the 2024 “Official Control of Microbiological Food Safety Criteria” Program, sampled a fresh preparation from poultry meat intended to be consumed cooked, with the trade name “SPICED FRESH CHICKEN WING ARTA” ” with Lot number 240618.12318 and expiration date 18/06/2024, which is produced and packaged in Greece by the company AGROTIKOS PTINOTROFIKOS SYNETARISMOS ARTAS. After the examination of the sample by the Veterinary Laboratory of Ioannina, the PRESENCE of the pathogenic microorganism Salmonella spp. in the above sample.

Greece – “SULTANINA RAISINS – FARMERS UNION MEDITERRANEAN DELICACIES 200 gr” – Aflatoxin

E.F.E.T. and in particular the Regional Directorate of Western Greece, within the framework of the Program “Official Control for the Monitoring of the Levels of Food Additives and Aromatic Substances in various types of Food”, sampled food with the following information: “SULTANINA RAISINS – FARMERS UNION MEDITERRANEAN DELICACIES 200 gr” (Expiry date: 12/2024 and batch number, L 2308″), produced by the company “Panaigialios Union of Cooperatives AES SA”.

The product was examined by the 1st Department of the 1st Chemical Service of Athens of the General Chemistry of the State, AADE and was characterized as abnormal and unsafe because the substance sulphite (as SO 2) which is an allergen is not listed on its packaging , while it will should be highlighted in typeface that clearly distinguishes it from the rest of the list of ingredients .

E.F.E.T. demanded the immediate recall of the entire specific batch of the product in question and the relevant controls are already underway.

Consumers who have purchased the disputed batch of the above product and are allergic to the substance in question are urged not to consume it.

Greece – Unsafe food recall – Trout – Listeria monocytogenes

Following the investigation of a complaint submitted to the E.F.E.T., it was established by the Food Hygiene Department of the Directorate of the Athens Veterinary Center of the FSA, the presence of the pathogenic microorganism Listeria monocytogenes in a product of the company “G. PANAGIOTOPOULOS I. BAKATSIAS OE. FISH CULTURE”.

Accordingly, the company:

  1. has proactively recalled the following products:
  • “Smoked Karpenisiou Trout (fillet)”, with the trade name “fresco” and production date from 23.01.2024 to 10.04.2024 (expiry date from 22.05.2024 to 08.08.2024).
  • “Smoked Marinated Trout of Karpenisi (fillet)”, with trade name “fresco” and production date from 24.01.2024 to 09.04.2024 (expiration date from 21.08.2024 to 05.11.2024).
  • “Smoked Trout of Karpenisi (whole)”, with trade name “fresco” and production date from 24.01.2024 to 28.03.2024 (expiration date from 22.07.2024 to 24.09.2024).
  1. It issued a notice to consumers which has been posted on its website ( http://fresko.com.gr/%cf%84%ce%b1-ce%bd%ce%b5%ce%b1-%ce%bc%ce %b1%cf%83/642 ).

Consumers who have purchased the above products (pictured below) are requested not to consume them.

The EFET in collaboration with the Department of Agricultural Economy & Veterinary Medicine of the Regional Unit of Evrytania are continuing the controls and the company has been placed under surveillance.

Greece – FROZEN SEFTALIES WITH PORK – Salmonella

E.F.E.T. and in particular the Regional Directorate of Crete, during inspections in the framework of the “Official Control of Microbiological Food Safety Criteria” Program of the year 2023, sampled the product, “FROZEN SEFTALIES WITH PORK”, with no. of batch: 202314511 and date of consumption until: 14.09.24 , manufactured by the company “X. MICHAS SA” in Thesi Kanali, Ypsilanti Boeotia.

After the laboratory examination of the above sample by the Veterinary Laboratory of Heraklion, the presence of the microorganism Salmonella spp.

E.F.E.T. demanded the immediate recall of the entire specific batch of the product in question and the relevant controls are already underway.

Greece – Gluten Free Chicken Burger and Chicken Souvlaki -Salmonella

E.F.E.T. and in particular the Regional Directorate of Central Macedonia, during inspections within the framework of the 2023 “Official Control of Microbiological Food Safety Criteria” Program, sampled frozen meat preparations with the following data: 1) GLUTEN-FREE CHICKEN BUTTER with a use-by date of 08/06/ 2024 and date of production / freezing 14/04/2023 and 2) SOUVLAKI CHICKEN, with date of consumption 31/08/2024 and date of production / freezing 09/05/2023 produced by the company “POULTRY ENTERPRISES A. KARAGIANNAKIS S.A. – Chicken Karagiannakis of Halkidiki”. Following laboratory analyzes in the laboratory of the Veterinary Center of Thessaloniki, the presence of the pathogenic microorganism Salmonella spp. in the above samples.

E.F.E.T. demanded the immediate recall of all the specific batches of the products in question and the relevant controls are already underway.
