The E. coli O121 outbreak linked to Farm Rich brand frozen food products has grown again to include 35 people in 19 states. Nine people have been hospitalized in this outbreak, and no deaths have been reported. Two patients have developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). The outbreak has grown from 32 people since the last update in late April.

This is quite an interesting recall as I doubt that there many if any companies in the UK testing salads for E.coli O157:H7

Wegmans Food You Feel Good About Organic Spinach & Spring Mix, 5oz – UPC: 77890-16437 – ONLY product sold between 10/14/12 and 11/1/12.

Reason for Recall: State Garden is recalling two sizes of this product because they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.

Thus far no illnesses have been reported.

North American Ground Beef Recall – E.coli O157 Expanded

The public warning issued on September 18, 2012 has been expanded to include additional ground beef products because the products may be contaminated with E. coliO157:H7.

The CFIA is warning the public, distributors and food service establishments not to consume, sell, or serve the ground beef products described in the link above because the products may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.

Almost 230,000 pounds of Robert’s cut leaf curly spinach is being recalled in 30 pound totes because of possible contamination with E. coli 0157:H7. The recall was announced only to the company’s customers by snail mail. (post)
