In agreement with the AFSCA, EUROPEAN HALAL FOOD SPRL is withdrawing the ‘surimi’ and ‘tuna’ salads of the LINAH brand and recalling them from consumers due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

EUROPEAN HALAL FOOD SPRL asks its customers not to consume these products and to return them to the point of sale where they were purchased. Reimbursement will be made on site.

The possible presence of Salmonella Enteritidis in soft cheese made with raw sheep’s milk from Spain is reported.  

The data of the product involved are:

  • Product name (on label):  Tou Casa Mateu
  • Brand:  Casa Mateu
  • Batch number:  all batches with a valid expiry date
  • Unit weight:  400 g
  • Temperature:  Refrigerated

According to the information available, the products have been distributed in the autonomous communities of Catalonia and Valencia.

The Spanish Food Safety Agency (AESAN) has transferred this information, communicated by the health authorities of Catalonia, to the competent authorities of the autonomous communities through the European Food Alert Network.

The withdrawal from the market of the affected product from the marketing channels is supervised by the competent authorities.

As a precautionary measure,  people who may have the above-mentioned product in their homes are advised to refrain from consuming it.

If you have consumed any of the products from the affected batch and have symptoms compatible with salmonellosis (vomiting, diarrhea or fever), it is recommended to go to a health center.

USA – State tests show bacteria in raw milk; consumers urged to throw out products – Campylobacter

State officials in New York have issued a warning about unpasteurized, raw milk from Hu-Hill Farm in Fort Plain.

The milk has tested positive for campylobacter bacteria and could cause serious infections if consumed. Young children and the elderly are at heightened risk for serious illness.

The state Department of Agriculture and Markets issued the warning on Aug. 6. The organic dairy, on Lighthall Road in Fort Plain cannot sell any raw milk products until samples confirm it is free from bacteria.

Nature Of Danger:

Symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes infection can include mild flu-like symptoms, or gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. In rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications. Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections, including pregnant women, babies, and people with weakened immune systems, including the elderly. The incubation period (time between initial infection and first symptoms appearing) is on average 3 weeks but can range between 3 and 70 days.
