The AFSCA is today recalling consumers of the smoked cheese “Pasta filata Käse, 3Pletenyj geraüchert”.

This recall follows a notification via the RASFF system (European Food and Feed Rapid Alert System) concerning the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

It was therefore decided to withdraw this product from sale and to recall it to consumers.
The AFSCA asks not to consume this product and to bring it back to the point of sale where it was purchased.

Spain – Alert for the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in marinated smoked salmon from Spain

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition has become aware through the Coordinated System of Rapid Exchange of Information (SCIRI), of an alert notification transferred by the health authorities of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia regarding the presence of Listeria monocytogenes, in smoked salmon marinated with dill made in Spain.

The presence of Listeria monocytogenes above the established limits has been detected as a result of an official control carried out by the health authorities of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia.

The manufacturing company has contacted its customers and is managing the withdrawal of product from market.

The data of the product involved are:

  • Product name on the label: Smoked salmon marinated with dill
  • Brand: Royal
  • Lot: 1098B1-098
  • Expiry date: 23/05/2021
  • Barcode: EAN841248-051128-0
  • Unit weight: 80 g
  • Temperature: Cooling

The product has been distributed to all the autonomous communities.

This information has been transferred to the competent authorities of the Autonomous Communities through the SCIRI, in order to verify the withdrawal of the affected products from the marketing channels.

With the information available, no case associated with this alert has been confirmed in Spain.

As a precautionary measure, it  is recommended that people who have lots of the products listed above at home, refrain from consuming them and return them to points of sale.

In the case of having consumed these products from the affected batches and presenting any symptoms compatible with Listeriosis (vomiting, diarrhoea and fever), it is recommended to go to a health center.

Information for consumers

The Norenca company asks its customers not to consume this product and to bring it back to the point of sale.

Possible symptoms of foodborne illness caused by Salmonella are: fever, abdominal cramps and diarrhea, within 12 to 48 hours of consuming the contaminated food. The risk of infection is higher in the elderly, children, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems.

People who have consumed these products and who present this type of symptoms are invited to consult their doctor without delay, notifying him of this consumption.

In agreement with the AFSCA, the company Le Larry is withdrawing from sale several references made from 125g raw milk goat cheese and is recalling them to consumers because of the possible presence of the E. coli STEC bacteria.

In agreement with the AFSCA, the company Het Dischhof is withdrawing from sale the cheese “Keiems Bloempje” – Lot 506 – and is recalling it to consumers because of the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes. The other batches of these cheeses are not affected by this product recall.

Het Dischhof BV asks its customers not to consume this product and to return it to the point of sale where it was purchased. It will be refunded to them.
