Manning Impex Ltd is recalling a batch of Buenas Grated Coconut due to the detection of Salmonella. This batch could cause illness if consumed raw. A point-of-sale recall notice will be displayed in the stores which sold the implicated batch advising customers not to consume that batch.

Risk: Manufacturing controls that could potentially affect the safety of the products could not be demonstrated satisfactorily by the manufacturer.
The issue relates to controlling factors to prevent the growth and toxin production of Clostridium botulinum. Botulinum toxin may cause a serious form of food poisoning called botulism and can be fatal. A recall from customers is being carried out as a precautionary measure.

Our advice to consumers:
If you have bought any of the above products do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.
Action taken by the company:
Ru An Fhoder Smokehouse is recalling the above products. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product. Please see the attached notice.

USA – Wegmans recalls detox tea because of Salmonella risk

Wegmans Food Markets Inc. is recalling Traditional Medicinals brand tea due to the risk of Salmonella contamination, according to an April 17 recall notice posted on Wegmans’ website. The recalled “EveryDay Detox Lemon Tea” and “Organic Throat Coat Lemon Echinacea Caffeine Free Tea” is labeled with an expiration date of Jan. 2021, according to the recall.

According to Traditional Medicinals, “Our supplier of lemon myrtle leaf (a minor ingredient in both products) found Salmonella contamination in a retained sample of this herb,” and “upon learning of this, we reported the problem to FDA.”
