The Public Health Agency of Catalonia has received, through the Coordinated System for the Rapid Exchange of Information (SCIRI), information on an alert regarding the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in cooked pork head meat from Spain.

According to the information available, the initial distribution of the products has been in the Basque Country, although distribution to other autonomous communities has not been ruled out.
With the information available there is NO record of any reported case associated with this alert.
Through the SCIRI, the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) received this alert from the health authorities of the autonomous community of the Basque Country and has transferred it to the competent authorities of the autonomous communities in order to verify the withdrawal of affected products from marketing channels.
As a precautionary measure, it is recommended that people who have the product indicated above in their homes refrain from consuming it and return it to the points of sale.
In the case of having consumed this product from the affected batches and presenting symptoms compatible with listeriosis (fever, headache, vomiting or diarrhea), it is recommended to go to a health center.

Comercializadora PepsiCo S. de R.L. de C.V. today issued a voluntary recall for 15.5 oz, 6 count box of Gamesa Arcoiris Marshmallow Cookies due to the potential presence of Salmonella.
The recall was initiated as the result of a routine sampling program by the company, which revealed the finished product may contain Salmonella. Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.
The company initiated the voluntary recall on the product below out of a commitment to and concern for consumers. The product covered by this recall was distributed to warehouses in California and Texas and may have reached consumers through select retail stores.
