Catalonia – Alert for the presence of Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella spp in germinated alfalfa sprouts from Spain

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has been informed by the autonomous community of Galicia, through the  Coordinated System for Rapid Information Exchange (SCIRI),  of the presence of  Listeria monocytogenes  and Salmonella spp. in germinated alfalfa sprouts.

The data of the products involved are:

Alfalfa sprouts:

  • Product name (on label):  Organic sprouted alfalfa sprouts
  • Brand Name:  Fresquia
  • Product appearance:  70g bag
  • Batch number: L0101-45-04-23 
  • Expiration date:  12/05/2023
  • Unit weight: 70g
  • Temperature:  Refrigerated

Sprouted alfalfa sprouts with arugula:

  • Product name (on label):  Organic sprouted alfalfa sprouts with arugula
  • Brand Name:  Fresquia
  • Product appearance:  70g bag
  • Batch number:  L0101-45-01-23
  • Expiry date:  12/02/2023
  • Temperature:  Refrigerated

AESAN has transferred this information to the competent authorities of the autonomous communities through the SCIRI, so that the withdrawal of the affected products from marketing channels can be verified.

People who have products affected by this alert in their homes are recommended to refrain from consuming them.

If you have consumed any of the products from the affected batches and present symptoms compatible with listeriosis or salmonellosis (vomiting, diarrhea or fever), it is recommended to go to a health center.
