How Many More Peanut Butter Products Recalls – Salmonella?

JagRma LLC of San Diego, CA is doing a Limited Voluntary recall on it’s 16oz NuttZo Original (Blue Label/UPC code 894697002030) manufactured in Oct and November 2011 with “Best Buy Dates 10/7/12-12/31/12 stamped on lid or bottom of jar,” because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

With the FDA’s announcement of an expanded recall of Sunland Inc.’s peanut butter, AdvancePierre Foods of Cincinnati, OH, is initiating a voluntary recall of select frozen products including Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches, Peanut Butter and Jelly Graham Cracker sandwiches and Peanut Butter cup products all produced at its Easley, South Carolina factory. In the best interest of consumers, AdvancePierre has decided to recall all of the potentially affected products, including those beyond the one-year shelf life.

The affected products have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. To date, there have been no confirmed illnesses or injuries reported in connection with any of the AdvancePierre recalled products, and no other AdvancePierre products are being recalled at this time.

LIN-MAR PARTNERS, INC of Austin, Texas is recalling two varieties of Longhorn Bars:  Roasted Peanut with Chocolate Energy Bars and Peanut Butter Trail Mix Protein Bars because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

No complaints of illnesses have been reported to date. Consumers are urged not consume the product and to return the bars to the place where they purchased them for a full refund.  Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-512-561-5000 between 8 am and 5 pm CST.

The decision was made as the result of the expanded recall of peanut butter, nut butters and peanut products by Sunland because of potential contamination with Salmonella.

 No illnesses associated with any of these products have been reported to date.

Consumers with the above symptoms should consult their physician. 

While no illnesses associated with any of these products have been reported to date, as part of our commitment to the safety and quality of our products we have decided to issue a voluntary recall.

 

FDA – Four Seasons Dairy Recall Herring Fillets – Salmonella

Four Seasons Dairy Inc, 255 58thSt, Brooklyn, NY 11220 is recalling Herring Fillets “Atlantic Recipe” in oil in 16.66 ounces/500g because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy persons may suffer only short term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The product comes in a 16.66 oz/500g clean plastic tub with an expiration date of 12/11/12 stamped on the bottom. The recalled herring fillets were distributed nationwide and are a product of the Ukraine.

The contamination was discovered after sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Market Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem. Consumers who have purchased 16.66oz/500g of Herring Fillets “Atlantic Recipe” in oil are advised not to eat them, but should return them to the place of purchase. US – Ground Hot Pepper – Salmonella

Out of the utmost caution and care for our customers, Nina International of Hyattsville, MD is initiating a voluntary recall of its brand of Ground Hot Pepper, 5oz, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonellacan result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

Ground Hot Pepper was distributed in MD, Washington, DC and VA and reached consumers through African and ethnic retail food stores. The product is in a 5oz, clear plastic container, and inscribed with “Nina International, The Best Brand” and “Ground Hot Pepper, Chillies, All Natural.” It has a yellow seal with a red “Nina” inscription and the barcode is 745851004004.

Nina International is issuing this voluntary recall to minimize the risk to the public health. No related illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The recall was as the result of a routine testing program which revealed that the finished products contained the bacteria. The company has ceased the distribution of the product as we continue to identify the source of the problem.

Daily Peanut Butter Products Recall Notices – Salmonella

The Flying Food Group of Illinois is recalling Starbucks brand Protein Bistro Box with Enjoy By dates of 8/10/12 to 10/06/12 because they contain Justin’s Nut Butter peanut butter squeeze packs that may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. The Justin’s peanut butter was made with Sunland products that are linked to a Salmonella Bredeney outbreak in the U.S.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Starbucks Coffee Canada Inc. are warning the public not to consume the peanut butter product described below because it may be contaminated with Salmonella.

The affected product, Justin’s brand Honey Peanut Butter Blend, is a 0.5 oz pouch bearing UPC 894455000391 and a Best By date between 07-14-13 and 08-30-13.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

As an update to the 09/27/2012 press release by Oregon Ice Cream Company in Eugene, Oregon, additional lot codes are now included in this recall. Oregon Ice Cream Company is issuing this voluntary recall linked to the Sunland, Inc recall to minimize the risk to the public health.

Velvet Ice Cream has been notified that peanut products sold to their company from Sunland, Inc., which were used to make select peanut butter-flavored ice creams, may be contaminated with Salmonella. Thus, the Ohio-based ice cream manufacturer is voluntarily recalling products that may contain contaminated nut products. The recalled products are only sold at convenience stores, small, independent retailers and ice cream parlors in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. Not all peanut products sold to Velvet Ice Cream are at risk, consequently, only the items with corresponding code numbers are affected.

 

Peanut Butter Products Recalls Keeps Going – Salmonella

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning the public not to consume the peanut butter containing products listed below because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. (see link for product list) These products may have been distributed nationally through Internet sales from the United States.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

We were notified today that Sunland is expanding the range of dates involved in their recall. As a result, we are recalling four additional non-expired code dates of MoonPie® Crunch Peanut Butter product: 10/29/12, 12/10/12, 01/07/13, and 01/29/13. Consumers who have purchased this item are urged not to eat the product, and to dispose of it or return it to the retailer for a full refund. Expired product should be destroyed as well.

If you are a direct account with Chattanooga Bakery, please notify all of your stores / retail outlets. If you are a wholesaler / distributor, please be sure to notify all of your retailer customers who, in turn, should notify all stores / retail outlets. To date, there have been no reports of illness associated with MoonPie® Crunch Peanut Butter.

After receiving a recall notice from a former supplier of peanut butter base, Toft’s has issued a voluntary recall on 48 oz cartons and 3 gallon tubs of Buckeye Bites Ice Cream with expiration dates of March 14,2013 or before. Any 48 oz or 3 gallon tub of Toft’s Buckeye Bites with an expiration date after March 14, 2013 is NOT involved in this recall due to us switching peanut butter suppliers on March 15, 2012. Toft’s Prime Time Buckeye Bites Ice Cream has been distributed throughout the state of Ohio and Southern Michigan. We have not received any reports of consumer illness associated with this recall. We have comprehensive product quality and safety policies and procedures operating throughout our facility daily to ensure the safety of our products.

General Mills today announced a voluntary recall of a limited number of Cascadian Farm Granola Bars containing peanuts. This action is being taken as a precaution because peanut pieces in the products may have been sourced from Sunland, Inc., a peanut supplier that recently expanded its recall of peanut ingredients.

This voluntary recall includes 6-count boxes of Cascadian Farm Peanut Butter Chip Chewy Granola Bars with the following “Better if Used By” dates printed on the top of the box:

No illnesses have been reported in connection with Cascadian Farm products. No other varieties or production dates of Cascadian Farm products are affected by this recall.

The Dean Foods Company of California processing facility in Buena Park, Calif., and Meadow Gold Dairy processing facility in Orem, Utah, are taking the precautionary measure to voluntarily recall two ice cream varieties manufactured for Albertsons supermarkets. This recall was initiated because the affected products contain a peanut butter ingredient supplied by Sunland, Inc. which may be contaminated with Salmonella. The peanut butter manufacturer Sunland recently expanded its nationwide product recall.

To date, no complaints or reactions have been reported related to these ice cream products, and only two flavors of Albertsons ice cream are included in the recall. No Meadow Gold® brand ice cream products are included in this recall. Both the “Peanut Butter Cup” and “Peanut Butter Chocolate” flavors are sold in 1.5 quarts (1.42L) cardboard cartons in Albertsons stores. Only the ice cream made in two plants is impacted by this recall and therefore the product being recalled was sold between 3/26/2010 and 9/25/2012 only in California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, Utah, Wyoming and Washington.

No other Albertsons or Meadow Gold brand ice cream products are affected by this recall. In particular, this recall only impacts Albertsons ice cream products with the plant codes of 49-11 or 06-20 and sold in California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, Utah, Wyoming and Washington.

 

Never Ending Peanut Butter Products Recalls – Salmonella

BGC Manufacturing is recalling Goldenbrook Farms Peanut Butter Bash Ice Cream. This recall is being initiated because the peanut butter used in the product has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

To date, there have been no reported illnesses attributed to Goldenbrook Peanut Butter Bash Ice Cream and the recall does not include any other flavors. The peanut butter is supplied by Sunland, Inc., which has issued a national recall of some of its products due to possible contamination with Salmonella.

In response to the expanded Sunland, Inc. recall of all of its peanut butter products manufactured at its plant since March 31, 2010, Rich Products Corporation (“Rich’s”) on October 9, 2012 recalled its Jon Donaire® Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream Cake (Product Code: 62683) and TCBY® Peanut Buttery Fudge Deep Dish Frozen Yogurt Pie (Product Code: 02772).

Rich’s Quality Assurance Team has determined that the two products contain ingredients sourced from a supplier using Sunland, Inc. peanuts in the production of certain lots of the products and have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Specifically, the peanut butter ribbon provided by our supplier contains peanuts sourced from Sunland, Inc.  The products are produced by Rich’s in its Santa Fe Springs, California plant.

Rich’s has not received any reports of illness connected with this product and has issued this voluntary recall as a precautionary measure.

Peanut Butter Products Recalls – Salmonella

Bliss Unlimited, LLC, Eugene, Oregon is recalling Luna & Larry’s Coconut Bliss Chocolate Peanut Butter Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert with codes dates Nov 11 2012 through Oct 24 2013 only. This recall is being initiated because the peanut butter used in the product for these specific code dates is supplied by Sunland, Inc., which has issued a national recall of some of its products due to possible contamination with Salmonella.

To date, there have been no reported illnesses attributed to Luna & Larry’s Coconut Bliss Chocolate Peanut Butter Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert and the recall does not include any other flavors or date codes.

Clemmy’s Ice Cream of Rancho Mirage, CA is initiating a voluntary recall of Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip 16 ounce containers of ice cream that contains peanut butter associated with the Sunland, Inc., recall.  The peanut butter used in this product has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

There have been noreported illnesses attributed to this recall.  Clemmy’s is issuing this voluntary recall linked to the supplier’s Peanut Butter recall to minimize the risk to the public health

Falcon Trading Company, Inc./SunRidge Farms of Royal Oaks, CA announced that it has taken the precautionary measure of voluntarily recalling the four bulk items mentioned in this link.

The product contains peanut butter supplied by Sunland, Inc..  Sunland, Inc. initiated a secondary voluntary recall of all peanut butter products  manufactured between March 1, 2010 and September 24, 2012, “because the products may have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella.”  Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.  Please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s website at http://www.cdc.gov1.

Belfonte Ice Cream and Dairy Foods Company, due to Sunland, Inc’s expanded voluntary recall of Almond Butter, Peanut Butter, Cashew Butter, Tahini and Roasted Blanched Peanut Products, has initiated a recall of a peanut butter containing ice cream produced at our Kansas City, MO plant because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

This ice cream is sold between April 2010 and October 2012 in retail and convenience stores in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

There have been no reported illnesses related to our products to date.

Smith Dairy Products Company announced a voluntary recall on SMITH’S Peanut Butter Crunch ice cream, Acme Peanut Butter Twist ice cream, and Ruggles Peanut Butter Crunch and Peanut Butter Crunch Brownie ice cream. The recall notification was initiated by Pecan Deluxe, the company that manufactures the peanut butter candy pieces in the products.

Smith Dairy has a comprehensive food safety program in place to provide the highest quality products available and will continue to monitor the situation.

Uneviscerated Fish – Possible Clostridium botulinum

KRASNYI OKTYABR located at 60 20th street, Brooklyn, NY 11232 is recalling Beer Set Dried Rudd discovered by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors during a routine inspection and subsequent analysis of the product by Food Laboratory personnel that confirmed the fish had not been properly eviscerated prior to processing.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem. Consumers who have Beer Set Dried Rudd are advised not to eat it, but should return it to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions should contact the company at 718-858-6720.

Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese is voluntarily recalling Kentucky Rose, Kentucky Bleu, Awe-Brie and Tomme de Nena.  This recall is being made with the knowledge of the FDA.   Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese recalled this product due to possible Listeria monocytogenescontamination, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.  Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

To date, there have been no instances of illness reported.

Whole Foods Market is recalling ricotta salata sold in 21 states and Washington D.C. because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This is an update of a previous recall. There is a nationwide outbreak caused by that bacteria that has sickened at least 18 people in 12 states and D.C
