The Hofkäserei Belrieth is carrying out a voluntary recall of organic wine cheese due to an internal control result with the detection of Listeria monocytogenes (see recall letter).

Contamination with Listeria monocytogenes cannot be ruled out for the affected product. 

Listeria disease usually manifests itself within 14 days of infection with diarrhea and fever. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems in particular can develop severe illnesses with blood poisoning and meningitis. People who have eaten this food and develop severe or persistent symptoms should seek medical attention and point out a possible listeria infection.
