The products that are the subject of this warning were offered for sale until June 22, 2021 inclusively, at several establishments in the province. They were packaged in clear plastic containers and sold refrigerated. The product label includes, in addition to their name, the mention “Vegetarian Gourmet”.
The operator is voluntarily recalling the products in question. He agreed with the MAPAQ and the Food Inspection Division of the City of Montreal to disseminate this warning as a precautionary measure. It should be noted that no case of illness associated with the consumption of these foods has been reported to MAPAQ so far.
In addition, people who have any of these products in their possession are advised not to consume it. They must return it to the establishment where they bought it or throw it away. Even if the products do not show any signs of spoilage or a suspicious odor, eating food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a foodborne illness, which can lead to high fever. , severe headache, stiff neck or nausea. In this regard, pregnant women and their unborn children, the elderly, children and people with weakened immune systems are considered to be the most vulnerable.
