USA – Cooked Deli Beef – Listeria monocytogenes

Manda Packing Company, a Baker, La., establishment, is recalling approximately 20,166 pounds of cooked roast beef deli meat due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

Various weights of the following products are subject to recall:

  • Manda Supreme Roast Beef
  • Four Star Cajun Roast Beef
  • Four Star Roast Beef
  • Cajun Prize Roast Beef
  • Manda Supreme Natural Roast Beef
  • Manda Natural Roast Beef
  • Manda New Orleans Style Roast Beef
  • Manda Whole Wet Pack Roast Beef

Each package has a “Sell by” date of May 13, 2013, and bears the establishment number “EST. 8746A” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These products may have been sliced at retail delis, and if so will not bear this packaging information. The products were packed on February 27, 2013, and shipped for further distribution and to retail deli stores in Louisiana, Texas, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Illinois, and Tennessee.

FSIS was alerted to the problem by the Tennessee Department of Health, who took an intact sample of cooked roast beef at a retail establishment on April 5, 2013, which later confirmed positive for Listeria monocytogenes. FSIS and the company have received no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of these products.

USA – Walmart Recall Pizza – Possible E.coli Contamination

Walmart is recalling Farm Rich Pizza Slices from its stores nationwide because they may be contaminated with E.coli. The frozen pepperoni pizza slices were sold in 7.2 oz cartons and 22 oz cartons with “EST. 27232″ or “P-27233″ stamped inside the USDA mark of inspection. The “best by” dates for both sizes under recall is May 15 or May 16, 2014.

The products under recall contain cheese, pepperoni, sauce and dough, according to information from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), which, along with Farm Rich, has posted the recall on its website. The pizza slices are among several Farm Rich items being recalled for potential E. coli contamination including: mini chicken and cheese quesadillas, mini mozzarella bites and cheesesteak sandwiches.

Reichel Foods in Minnesota is recalling approximately 15,880 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

All the products were produced between July 23, 2012, and July 26, 2012, and have a “sell by” date of Sept. 1, 2012. The packages bear the establishment number “P-19941” or “Est. 19941” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products were shipped to distribution centers in Indiana, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Texas. When available, the retail distribution list will be posted on FSIS’ website.
