Tesco is recalling one batch of its Organic Almonds 200g because salmonella has been found in the product.

No other Tesco products are known to be affected.

Risk statement

The presence of salmonella in the product listed above. Symptoms caused by Salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.

Action taken by the company

Tesco is recalling the above product and has informed its customers. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product. Please see the attached notice.

Listeria monocytogenes has been found in two batches of Organic Smoked Salmon. As a precautionary measure, Ewing Seafoods is recalling further batches of Organic Smoked Salmon and Original Recipe Smoked Salmon, as they may also be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes

Risk statement

The products listed above might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.

Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.

Action taken by the company

Ewing Seafoods is recalling the above products. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products. This recall includes sweetcorn and sweetcorn mixed vegetables and inlcudes the following brands and retailers. There is a very long list!

Greenyard Frozen UK Ltd are recalling the above products. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores

that are selling these products. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought any of the products listed above.

Our advice to consumers

If you have bought any of the above products do not eat them. Instead, return the product to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

We’ve been developing our new website to make it much easier for businesses and consumers to find the information they need. Today we’re making it available for you to test, please tell us what you think.

We know that for food to be safe and what it says it is, you need to be able to access the information you need easily, which is why we have been developing the new beta.food.gov.uk.

Over the past year our teams have been working to:

  • Redesign our website to be more engaging and easier to use.
  • Overhaul our consumer and business guidance so that you can find and understand key information.
  • Develop a new contact service, so that your query or report gets to the right team or department first time.
  • Develop a new food and allergy alerts service, powered by APIs, to get information about food recalls and withdrawals to you as quickly as possible.
  • Build the website so that it works as seamlessly whether you are on your phone, tablet or computer.
  • Later this year, we will also be launching the new Food Hygiene Rating service that makes it faster for consumers to find the FHRS rating of a business, and also helps businesses display their food hygiene rating on their own websites and apps.

Tell us what you think

We are confident that you will find the new website much easier to use, but we will not fully know until we have millions of real consumers and businesses using it.

This period, beta public, lets us see how well the website works when you do use it, and helps us identify where we can improve it by allowing us to:

  • Understand if the content meets your needs based on your feedback.
  • See whether you can find information you are looking for first time when searching.
  • Test whether the website seamlessly works on all the devices you use to visit it.
  • See where we need to iterate a service so that it is easier for you to use.
