Superior Nut & Candy Co., Inc. is recalling 4 ounce packages Pine Nuts because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail and elderly people, and other with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The recalled Pine Nuts were distributed nationwide in retail stores.

The product come in a 4-ounce packages of Pine Nuts are sold in store Produce Departments with a clear package front and tan-colored label on the back. The back label list Pine Nuts as the only ingredient and has the UPC Number of 72549320016 with a Best By date between 10/22/2015 to 12/27/2015 on the back label.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the problem.

USA – Frozen Spinach Issues Follow on from Yesterday- Listeria monocytogenes

This recall is based on a recall notice from one of Superior Foods, Inc., organic frozen spinach suppliers that Superior Foods, Inc., may have received organic spinach with the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Product was distributed Nationwide at Target retail stores.

Whole Foods Market is recalling packaged raw macadamia nuts due to possible Salmonella contamination. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The product was labelled as “Whole Foods Market Raw Macadamia Nuts” and was packaged in 5.6 oz. plastic tubs. The recalled products have sell-by dates of 4/22/15, 5/4/15 and 5/6/15 and a UPC code of 7-23055-21415-3. The recalled product was distributed to Whole Foods Market, Greenlife Grocery, and Harry’s Farmers Market stores in AL, GA, MS, NC, SC and TN.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

Freeland Foods, Inc. of San Jose, CA is voluntarily recalling the Go Raw Organic Spicy Seed Mix, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

Based upon a random sampling, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (“CFIA”) has determined that the Go Raw Brand Organic Spicy Seed Mix, UPC number 8 59888 00040 0, lot number “Enjoy before May 12, 2015 R2,” sold in 1 lb. (454 g) re-sealable plastic bags sold by Ecomax, tested positive for Salmonella. At this time, this is the only lot that is affected by this recall.

Although there have been no reported illnesses to date associated with the consumption of this product

Global Garlic, Inc. of Miami, FL is recalling De Mi Pais products: Cuajada Fresca (Fresh Curd) 12oz. and Cuajada Olanchana (Fresh Curd) 12oz., because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The recalled products were distributed in Florida, Louisiana, Tennessee, and North Carolina from April 1st thought October 14, 2014 to distributors and retail stores. Both products can be identified by the same UPC code on the label of the plastic bag 896211002380 and the products can be identified by the Best Used by Date sticker on the label of the plastic bag of 07/01/14 through 12/31/14.

CORAL GABLES, Fla — Del Monte Fresh Produce N.A., Inc. (“Del Monte Fresh”) announced today the voluntary recall of fresh cut fruit containing Gala red apples grown in Pennsylvania. The affected product was distributed to a limited number of customers in a few States in North East US and is being recalled because these apples have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes , an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Bravo is recalling select lots and product(s) of Bravo Pet Food because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

However, healthy cats and dogs rarely become sick from Listeria. Animals ill with Listeria will display symptoms similar to the ones listed above for humans. People who have concerns about whether their pet has Listeria should contact their veterinarian.

The recalled product was distributed nationwide to distributors, retail stores, internet retailers and directly to consumers. The product can be identified by the batch ID code (best used by date) printed on the side of the plastic tube or on a label on the box

Miravalle Foods, Inc. of El Monte, CA, is conducting a voluntarily recall on its 0.75 ounce packages of Miravalle brand Achiote Molido Ground Annato spice because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The recalled packages of Ground Annato 0.75 oz. were distributed in California, Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Nevada, Washington and Oregon, in retail stores.

The product comes in a 0.75 ounce, clear plastic package marked with lot # 0015 & #0018 on the top of the UPC number (712810005020).

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

ROTH FARMS Inc. of Belle Glade, Fl , is recalling its “ bunched Curly Parsley” because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The recalled “Curly Parsley” was distributed in South Florida distribution centers.

The product comes in a 3 Wire Wooden Crate with the lot # AG01GN on the outside tag.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

The potential for contamination was noted after routine testing by the company revealed the presence of Salmonella in some Curly Parsley samples.”

Hagee Foods Inc. dba Penny’s Salsa Inc., is recalling hummus products listed in the attached table because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The retail hummus products come in 8 oz. and 12 oz. clear plastic packages and were distributed to retail stores and food service accounts in Oregon and Washington with the Penny’s Salsa, Tacoma Boys and Harbor Greens labels. The USE BY dates 7/13/2013-8/25/2013 are printed on the side of the top lid.

Vegetable trays 8 oz and Snack packs 8 oz, which include 1.5 oz plastic containers of creamy hummus labeled Made in the Pacific North West, are packaged in black plastic trays with clear plastic lids. These products were distributed in Oregon and Washington. The USE BY dates 7/13/2013-7/24/2013 are on the underside of these trays.

Hummus for foodservice is packaged in 25 lb. bulk boxes. USE BY dates 7/13/2013-8/25/2013 are printed on the master shipper labels. This product was distributed in Washington.

The above hummus products were shipped from 5/27/13 to 7/14/13. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with these products
