Canadian Food Recalls – Listeria monocytogenes/E.coli

 The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning the public not to consume the refrigerated cold smoked sockeye salmon trim products described in the link above because the products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.

The public warning issued on February 24, 2012has been expanded to include an additional product and distribution information.

The affected product, Country Morning brand Beef Burgers, is sold frozen, in a 2.27 kg package bearing the UPC 057316 086624 and one of the following codes: 12861 EST 761, 22861 EST 761, 32861 EST 761 or 42861 EST 761.

The Country Morning Beef Burgers product has been distributed to Co-op and TGP grocery stores in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Northwest Territories, Yukon and Nunavut.

There has been one reported illness associated with the consumption of this product.

E.coli O157 Outbreak Canada – Beef

One person has been confirmed infected with E. coli O157:H7 linked to ground beef now being recalled in Canada.
 
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and New Middleast Supermarket of Ottawa, ON are warning the public not to consume finely ground beef used for kibbeh that was sold by the stores on Dec. 28 and 29, 2011.
 
Kibbeh is a Middle Eastern dish of minced meat shaped into balls or patties.
 
The ground beef, which may still be in home freezers, was served from the supermarket’s fresh meat counter in plastic bags wrapped with paper. The packages may be unlabeled.

Canadian – Salmonella – Dry Sausage Recall

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Livno Meats are warning the public not to consume the Dry Sausage described below because the product may be contaminated with Salmonella.

The affected product, Livno Meats Dry Sausage, was sold only from the Livno Meats retail store in Hornby, Ontario. It was sold in two formats as follows:

  1. Approximately 200 g vacuum package with a label bearing code “BATCH # 4, PACKED ON DE/11/28”
  2. Packaged in a plastic bag per customer order and sold during the period December 28, 2011 to January 21, 2012, inclusive.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
