  • Health recommendationsFoodborne illnesses caused by salmonella result in sudden onset of gastrointestinal disorders (diarrhoea, vomiting) often accompanied by fever and headache that generally occur 6 to 72 hours after consumption of contaminated products. These symptoms may be more pronounced in young children, pregnant women, immunocompromised people and the elderly. People who have consumed these products and who have these symptoms are invited to consult their doctor and report this consumption. If there are no symptoms within 7 days of consuming the affected products, there is no need to worry and consult a doctor. BILLA ALWAYS GOOD HAMSHUKA HUMMUS VEGETABLES 210G

https://www.ages.at/mensch/produktwarnungen-produktrueckrufe/produkt/billa-immer-gut-hamshuka-hummus-gemuese-210g

Austria, recall 16/04/2025

For reasons of consistent consumer protection, the supplier Wojnar’s Wiener Leckerbissen Delikatessenerzeugung GmbH is recalling BILLA IMMER GUT HAMSHUKA HUMMUS GEMÜSE 210G, sold up to and including 15.04.2025.

In the course of a routine check, tahini/sesame paste Salmonella spp. was detected in the raw material. So far, no contamination has been confirmed in the product produced with it. Nevertheless, it cannot be completely ruled out that a potential health hazard from Salmonella spp. may exist in the ready-to-eat product. As a precautionary measure, the entire stock of the potentially affected product, which was sold up to and including 15.04.2025, is being recalled – the consumption of the said product is therefore not recommended.

The inventory of the affected product was removed from sale.

  • Affected products that have already been purchased can now be returned without a receipt
  • If you have any questions, please contact Wojnar’s Wiener Leckerbissen Delikatessenerzeugung GmbH by e-mail to office@wojnar.at

The supplier Wojnar’s Wiener Leckerbissen Delikatessenerzeugung GmbH regrets the incident and apologizes to all customers for the inconvenience caused.

The warning does not state that the health risk has been caused by the producer, manufacturer, importer or distributor.

Imported frozen confection samples detected with coliform bacteria exceeding legal limit

Original link

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department announced today (April 8) that samples of a kind of frozen confection imported from Malaysia were found to contain coliform bacteria exceeding the legal limit. The affected product has been marked and sealed, and has not entered the market. The CFS is following up on the incident.

Product details are as follows:

Product name: King Don’t Lie Musang King Durian Gelato Plant-Based (Frozen Confection)
Brand: XO-ice
Place of origin: Malaysia
Importer: Gainly Enterprise Limited
Volume: 473 millilitres
Best-before date: September 12, 2027

A spokesman for the CFS said, “The CFS collected samples of the above-mentioned frozen confection at the import level for testing under its routine Food Surveillance Programme. The test results showed that three samples contained coliform bacteria ranging between 110 and 130 per gram, exceeding the legal limit.”

Under the Frozen Confections Regulation (Cap. 132AC), frozen confection for sale should not contain more than 100 coliform bacteria per gram. The maximum penalty for offenders is a fine of $10,000 and three months’ imprisonment upon conviction. The fact that the total coliform count exceeded the legal limit indicated that the hygienic conditions were unsatisfactory, but did not mean that consumption would lead to food poisoning.

The CFS has informed the importer concerned of the irregularity. An investigation revealed that the affected batch of the product is still stored in the importer’s warehouse. It has not entered the local market. The CFS will temporarily suspend the permission to import for sale of the product concerned granted earlier to the importer.

The CFS will inform the Malaysian authority of the incident, and will continue to follow up on the case and take appropriate actions.
