FSA

Aquarian is recalling its Tropical Flake Food and Goldfish Flake Food products with various ‘best before’ dates as a precautionary measure because the products may contain Salmonella. Risk

Action taken by the company

Aquarian is recalling the affected products and point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in stores where the products are sold, and a press release will be issued. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what actions to take if they have bought the products. A copy of the point-of-sale recall notice can be found via the link below.

Advice to consumers

Consumers who have purchased any of the above products are requested not to use it and to contact the Consumer Care team on 0800 952 0083. Only the products mentioned above with the ‘best before’ dates are affected and will not affect the health of the fish.

No other Aquarian products are known to be affected.

About product recalls and withdrawals

If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product). The FSA issues Product Withdrawal Information Notices and Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food. In some cases, a ‘Food Alert for Action’ is issued. This provides local authorities with details of specific action to be taken on behalf of consumers.
