USA – And the Listeria monocytogenes Recalls go on! – Sunflower Seeds – Meat – Walnuts – Chicken Fried Rice – Nut and Seed Mix – Mixed Veg

Vending Nut Company is voluntarily recalling a limited number of sunflower kernel products that have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The products were packaged and sold at Vending Nut Company’s Ft. Worth, TX facility between the dates of February 24, 2016 and March 9.

Ajinomoto Windsor, Inc., with establishments in Fort Worth, Texas; Los Angeles, Calif.; Carthage, Mo.; and Portland, Ore., is recalling approximately 47,112,256 pounds of not-ready-to-eat meat and poultry products that may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

The heat-treated, not fully cooked, not shelf stable meat and poultry items were produced on various dates between May 1, 2014 and May 1, 2016.

United Natural Trading, doing business as Woodstock Farms Manufacturing, is recalling walnuts and walnut-containing products because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. No illnesses have been reported in connection with the consumption of these recalled products, but the symptoms of listeriosis can take up to 70 days to appear.

Garland Ventures of Texas is recalling 114,870 pounds of chicken fried rice products because they could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. This is a secondary recall, linked to the recall of CRF Frozen Foods vegetable products. No illnesses have been confirmed in relation to the consumption of this particular product.

LAKELAND, Fla – Publix Super Markets is issuing a voluntary recall for cranberry nut and seed mix because it may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes. Publix received notification of the potential contamination from the walnut supplier, Woodstock Farms, after routine testing was completed. The 7.05 ounce plastic containers of prepackaged cranberry nut and seed mix were sold at Publix retail produce departments in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and North Carolina with a UPC of 41415-34986 and with use by dates August 7, 2016 through August 30, 2016.

Kroger is recalling Simple Truth Organic Mixed Vegetables because CRF Frozen Foods is recalling some of those ingredients for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. No illnesses have been reported to date.
