Sjømathuset AS recalls Fiskemannen salmon loin after detection of Listeria monocytogenes

Norway, 16/06/2025

Original link

The Seafood House is recalling Fiskemannen salmon loin 300 grams with shelf life until 18.06.2025. The reason is that Listeria monocytogenes has been detected in the product. The product is not suitable for consumption raw due to this detection.Published16.06.2025

The product is sold in NorgesGruppen’s stores (such as Meny, Kiwi, Spar, Joker, Bunnpris, CC mat). The batch consists of approx. 1200 consumer packs produced 10.-11.06.2025.

Listeria monocytogenes is found naturally in the environment and can in rare cases occur in raw materials for food production. Listeria can grow at low temperatures, and in foods with a long shelf life, it can grow to a high number of bacteria. The bacterium survives freezing. Long-lasting products that are eaten raw pose a particular risk.

For the vast majority, low levels of the bacterium are harmless, but for some risk groups such as the elderly, people with weakened immune systems and pregnant women, the bacterium can lead to illness if the product is eaten without heat treatment.

We encourage consumers who have purchased this product with the indicated lot number (285584 and 285639) and consumption date (18.06.2025), throw it away or return it to the store.Product NameTHE FISHERMAN LAKS LOIN, GTIN: 2376091600008Enterprise recalling the itemSjømathuset ASManufacturing activitiesSjømathuset ASBest-by date

Cucumbers in bushel boxes

Company Announcement

“This is a correction to the company’s press release, previously issued on June 17, 2025, to clarify events leading up to the recall.”

Fuentes Farms of McAllen, Texas is recalling 71 Boxes of Fresh Cucumbers, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

Product was distributed in Texas by local vendors at the Flea Markets in the McAllen and Alamo Areas.

The affected product has a Fuentes Farm Label with Lot number 357. Boxes are 40Lbs 1-1/9-bushel boxes, which read vegetables and have a black background.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this recall and the recall is not part of any current food outbreaks; However, out of an abundance of caution, Fuentes Farms LLC is notifying all customers and urging anyone who may have purchased the item at the flea market or sold cucumbers from Lot # 357. If you purchased cucumbers at the flea market with this label, during the specified dates of May 31st to June 3rd discontinue sale or consumption of the product.

The recall was as the result of a routine sample performed by the FDA, which revealed that the finished products contained the bacteria. The company has ceased the production and distribution of the product as FDA and the company continue their investigation as to what caused the problem.

Consumers who believe they may have purchased cucumbers from Lot # 357 are advised to dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase. FreshRealm Recalls Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo Products Due to Possible Listeria Contamination

USA, 17/06/2025

Original link

FSIS Announcement

EDITOR’S NOTE: June 18, 2025: FSIS and its public health partners, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), are investigating the outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes linked to this recall. Both partners issued alerts related to this outbreak. For more details, view the CDC Food Safety Alert, Listeria Outbreak Linked to Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo Meals, and the FDA Advisory, Outbreak Investigation of Listeria monocytogenes: Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo Meals (June 2025).

WASHINGTON, June 17, 2025 – FreshRealm establishments in San Clemente, Calif., Montezuma, Ga., and Indianapolis, Ind., are recalling chicken fettuccine alfredo products that may be adulterated with an outbreak strain of Listeria monocytogenes (Lm), the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. Out of an abundance of caution, the company is voluntarily recalling all products produced prior to June 17, 2025, that are available in commerce under the following brand names.

The following ready-to-eat products were shipped to Kroger and Walmart retail locations nationwide [view labels]:

  • 32.8-oz. tray packages containing “MARKETSIDE GRILLED CHICKEN ALFREDO WITH FETTUCCINE Tender Pasta with Creamy Alfredo Sauce, White Meat Chicken and Shaved Parmesan Cheese” with best-by date 06/27/25 or prior.

  • 12.3 oz. tray packages containing “MARKETSIDE GRILLED CHICKEN ALFREDO WITH FETTUCCINE Tender Pasta with Creamy Alfredo Sauce, White Meat Chicken, Broccoli and Shaved Parmesan Cheese” with best-by date 06/26/25 or prior.

  • 12.5 oz. tray packages containing “HOME CHEF Heat & Eat Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo with pasta, grilled white meat chicken, and Parmesan cheese” with best-by date 06/19/25 or prior.

The products bear the USDA mark of inspection on the product label as well as establishment numbers “EST. P-50784,” “EST. P-47770,” or “EST. P-47718” printed on the side of the packaging.

FSIS and public health partners are investigating an outbreak of Lm that currently includes 17 ill people in 13 states. As of June 17, 2025, there have been three reported deaths and one fetal loss associated with this outbreak. The outbreak strain of Lm was isolated from ill people on dates ranging from August 2024 – May 2025. The same outbreak strain was isolated from a routine chicken fettuccine alfredo sample collected by FSIS in a FreshRealm establishment in March 2025. The lot of chicken fettuccine alfredo represented by this sample was held during sampling, destroyed, and never entered commerce. The subsequent investigations at the establishment that produced this product, and into the product ingredients, have not identified the source of contamination. FSIS also used purchase records from two ill people to trace purchased chicken fettuccine alfredo products to FreshRealm establishments. An additional two ill people verbally described chicken fettuccine alfredo products they purchased. FSIS identified products produced by FreshRealm that matched the descriptions during follow-up at the retail stores where they shopped. This investigation is ongoing. FSIS is sharing what is currently known regarding products associated with the outbreak as the agency continues to work with public health partners to identify whether a specific ingredient in the chicken fettucine alfredo may be the source of this strain of Lm.

Consumption of food contaminated with Lm can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects older adults, persons with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns. Less commonly, people outside these risk groups are affected.

Listeriosis can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms. An invasive infection spreads beyond the gastrointestinal tract. In pregnant women, the infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery or life-threatening infection of the newborn. In addition, serious and sometimes fatal infections in older adults and people with weakened immune systems. Listeriosis is treated with antibiotics. People in the higher-risk categories who experience flu-like symptoms within two months after eating contaminated food should seek medical care and tell the health care provider about eating the contaminated food.

FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.

FSIS advises all consumers to safely prepare their meat products, including fresh and frozen, and to only consume premade meals like chicken fettuccine alfredo that has been cooked to a temperature of 165 degrees F. The only way to confirm that premade meals are cooked to a temperature high enough to kill harmful bacteria is to use a food thermometer that measures internal temperature, https://www.fsis.usda.gov/safetempchart.

Consumers with questions regarding the recall can contact FreshRealm’s customer service at 888-244-1562. Media can contact Mary Beth Lowell, Director of Internal Communications, FreshRealm, at 425-531-0122 or marybeth.lowell@freshrealm.com.

Consumers with food safety questions can call the toll-free USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-MPHotline (888-674-6854) or send a question via email to MPHotline@usda.gov. For consumers that need to report a problem with a meat, poultry, or egg product, the online Electronic Consumer Complaint Monitoring System can be accessed 24 hours a day at https://foodcomplaint.fsis.usda.gov/eCCF/.

  • Health recommendationsBotulism is a rare disease that most often results from the consumption of contaminated food containing botulinum toxin produced by Clostridium botulinum. This toxin develops in particular in canned goods or delicatessen products made by family or artisanal manufacturers for which the sterilization process has not been mastered. Symptoms usually appear 12 to 72 hours after ingesting contaminated food, but they can develop earlier or later (2 hours to 10 days). Botulinum poisoning is characterized by neurological signs: blurred vision, drooping eyelids, speech disorders, difficulty swallowing, dry mouth, muscle weakness. Digestive signs (constipation, vomiting, diarrhea) often accompany neurological signs.
