Salmonella and verotoxin-producing Escherichia coli (VTEC) were detected in one sample in beef salad (production dates 16.06.2025 and 17.06.2025).Possible consequences:
According to the Robert Koch Institute, VTEC disease as well as salmonella usually manifest themselves within a week of infection with diarrhea and abdominal cramps. In particular, infants, young children, seniors and people with a weakened immune system can develop more severe courses of the disease with bloody diarrhoea. Rarely, VTEC infection, especially in young children, can lead to acute kidney failure in a second episode of the disease a few days after the onset of diarrhea.
