Woman dies of suspected food poisoning

Three others are being treated in Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences

A woman died of suspected food poisoning at Appihalli in Belur taluk on Sunday. Neelamma, 45, the deceased, and three members of her family – Geetha, Ramesh and Mullaiah – had chapati and chutney for breakfast.

They complained of uneasiness and stomach pain within a few minutes of having breakfast. “Neelamma died, while three others are being treated in Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences,” Dr. R.Venkatesh, District Health Officer, said. Their relatives brought them to Hassan after they complained of uneasiness. The three are responding to the treatment. However, the real cause of death is yet to be ascertained. Dr. Venkatesh said food sample has been collected for tests.
