SINGAPORE — Goodwood Park Hotel’s bakery — famed for its durian pastries — has been ordered to stop operating, after 76 cases of food poisoning linked to the consumption of durian pastries were reported to the authorities.

The hotel, which was found to have lapses in its food handling processes, has been told by the National Environment Agency (NEA) to cease the production, sale and distribution of all pastries that have been prepared by the bakery. All pastries that have been prepared would have to be disposed of.

The first instance of food poisoning was reported on March 15, prompting investigations by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the NEA. A second case was reported on April 4.
