AT least 15 individuals suffered from food poisoning after eating chicken kelaguen prepared by one of the island’s caterers.

One of the victims, Luis John Castro of the governor’s office, said on his way to work Monday morning, he stopped by at a store on Capital Hill where he bought chicken kelaguen which he ate for breakfast.

Before noon on the same day, he said he was feeling nauseous. He was also vomiting and experiencing diarrhea. He said he knew he had eaten something “bad.”

He was brought to the Commonwealth Health Center where he was seen by an emergency room doctor and placed on an IV. Before he was discharged, he was advised by the doctor to rest and take a lot of fluids.

While still at the hospital, Castro said he learned that at least two other individuals were brought to CHC for food poisoning after eating chicken kelaguen.
