USA -2014 Incident – Raw milk produced by Pennsylvania farm linked to listeria illness & death

An organic farm in Pennsylvania was responsible for triggering the 2014 listeria outbreak that left at least one man dead, the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) has reported.

The federal agency reported that investigators traced listeria outbreak from two years ago to raw milk produced by Miller’s Organic Farm in Pennsylvania. Samples taken from the farm also tested positive for listeria.

The agency launched an investigation into the farm after it determined that the farm was the original source of the listeria outbreak two years ago. The outbreak sickened at least two people — one in California and another in Florida.

The Florida resident died after being hit by listeria. The victim’s family told investigators that he fell sick and later died after drinking raw milk. They victims’ families also revealed that they had purchased raw milk from Miller’s Organic Farm.
