CDC Update – Salmonella in Cucumbers
A Salmonella outbreak linked to COV restaurant on Lake Street in Wayzata has sickened nine people, Food Poisoning Bulletin is first to report. The outbreak occurred in early August.
Customers who ordered lobster guacamole at the restaurant on August 4th and 5th became ill within days. All of them have since recovered.
Of the nine reported illnesses, seven have confirmed cases of Salmonella Virchow infection. Lobster guacamole was the only food associated with illness, a health department spokesman has confirmed.
Earlier this month, the Fig & Olive restaurant in Washington DC’s City Center was linked to Salmonella outbreak that sickened as many as 160 people from five states and the District of Columbia. But was the West Hollywood location affected, too?
At least 12 people who ate at the Fig & Olive on Melrose Place have Salmonella infections from the same family of bacteria that sickened patrons in at the DC locations, Food Poisoning Bulletin has learned. At both locations, truffle oil was mentioned as a suspected source. At the DC location, which reopened last week after a six-day closure, truffle fries and mushroom croquettes are no longer on the menu.
