Greek Food Safety Authority (EFET) and its Regional Directorate of Epirus, following Official Food Control, requested the recall of smoked fillet trout due to the presence of the pathogen microorganism Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria monocytogenes can cause illness in certain groups of people, such as pregnant women, unborn and newborn babies, and anyone with reduced immunity, particularly the over-60s.
The product recalled is “Smoked fillet trout of Louros river” (in Greek: “Καπνιστή Πέστροφα φιλέτο πηγών Λούρου”), with best before date 14/06/2014, in plastic vacuum packages, which is produced by the company “SMOKED FISH – Ε. TSIALOS & EPE (in Greek: ”SMOKED FISH – Ε.ΤΣΙΑΛΙΟΣ & ΣΙΑ Ε.Ε.”) situated in the 29th km of the Ioannina-Athens National Road.
