I am not sure if any of you have come across this before but an article in Food Production Daily has reported on a company called PakSense which has developed a new USB temperature monitoring label. The XpressPDF label monitors and gathers information on time and temperature of food items during shelf life as it passes through the distribution chain. The USB connection is actually part of the label and can be plugged directly into a PC with a USB port. The data produced includes a complete history of times and temperatures that the product has been through, this can be graphed and presented in summary format. The full article is at the link above and at the manufacturer’s website link above. It is small flat and waterproof and does not need any specific software to run on your PC. I have not tried it but I can think of various applications for it.
