Increase in Ecoli 0157 Outbreaks.

There appears to be another outbreak of Ecoli 0157 in Scotland with at least 11 cases being confirmed since the beginning of December 2010 the source is as yet unknown. An HPA report for England and Wales has also produced figures with over 50 cases of Ecoli 0157 since December 1st 2010. This is approximately double the average cases for corresponding periods in previous years, you can read more in the report below.

Are these figures an indication of Ecoli 0157 becoming more of a problem or better identification, reporting and investigation of outbreaks, time will tell.
